Set: Leuenberger
J.A. Leuenberger sent the 14 postcards shown chronologically on this page to attorney Albert Nothomb (see Set: Nothomb) in Liège Belgium between 11/01/1905 and 12/11/1906, a span of about a year. Leuenberger wrote the date on the front of each card in dd/mm yyyy or dd/mm yy format. All were originally stamped on the back (U.S. style), but sometime after the initial San Francisco cancellation stamps were removed from the back and reattached to the front (European style).
Leuenberger signed almost all the cards as "J.A. Leuenberger", but Weidner 227 as "Jules Leuenberger". 1905 Crocker-Langley lists "Leuenberger J A Mrs, corsets, 514 Sutter" and "Leuenberger Julius A., waiter, r 514 Sutter." 1907 Crocker-Langley lists only "Leuenberger J A Mrs., corsets, 1716 Van Ness", so possibly Julius A. Leuenberger died not long after sending these cards.
