Fort Point and Golden Gate (2)
All the cards on this page use the same Weidner image of Fort Winfield Scott (Fort Point).
- Goeggel & Weidner 36; credit front left, AutoChrom logo, undivided back; ca. 1903.
-
Weidner 36; credit front left, post-quake caption added, undivided back;
postmarked SF 1/31/1907; written in tiny Kurrent (old German script).
-
Weidner 634, Weidner credit back, divided back, ca. 1909;
different stock number but recropped version of the same image (cf. positions of people on the roof).
The American flag flying over the fort is missing from the later card;
presumably it is just an artist's enhancement, as it would be very large as shown.
Weidner Catalog shows two additional variants of Weidner 36
(Weidner credit front without post-quake caption,
Weidner credit back with divided back).
These Britton & Rey cards use modified versions of the Weidner image.
