Parrott Building

Location: California/Montgomery (northwest corner).

The original Parrott building, also known as Parrott's Granite Block, was built in 1852 at the northwest corner of California/Montgomery by banker/importer John Parrott. Built from Chinese granite, it was one of the first stone buildings in the city. It survived the 1906 earthquake but was demolished in 1926. The Omni Hotel now occupies the site.

Parrott's widow Abbey M. Parrott commissioned architect Albert Plessis to build the Emporium in 1898. It is also sometimes referred to as the Parrott Building or as Parrott Building #2.
