Anton Ness
I've found 1880, 1885 (MN), 1895 (MN), 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, and 1940 census data for my grandfather Anton Ness (1875-1967); his 1880/1885/1895 records are on the page of his father Andrew Ness. Anton was born in 1875 on the family farm near Peterson, MN. Anton's wife was Bertha Julia Highum Ness (1877-1949), called Julia but here identified variously as Julia/Bertha/Bertha J/Bertha Julia. Confusingly, she had a younger sister b. 1884 named Bertha M. Highum. Julia's family lived on a farm very close to the Ness farm, so they must have known one another from early childhood.
The 1900 census record is from Lanesboro MN, where Anton & Julia's first son Alvin was born earlier that year. Their second son Lester was born in 1902 in Rushford MN. I have not found their family in the 1905 MN census, probably because they had already moved to Hampden ND, where my father P. Norman was born in 1905. Their fourth child Gladys was born in 1908 in Starbuck MN. Their 1910 census listing is from Starbuck, and they remained there for the rest of their lives.

Jennie Brekke b. 1856 is likely Anna Brekke's sister (Julia's aunt), so Anna Brekke b. 1816 is likely Julia's great grandmother.]
