Skamandros II (2018/2011) by Erik Ulman
for clarinet, violin, cello, and piano

Skamandros II was completed in the summer of 2021, and supersedes an earlier version premiered in Mexico City in 2018. The title refers to the Scamander, the river outside Troy, and comes from Friedrich Hölderlin's poem Mnemosyne. Skamandros II is dedicated to my friend, the classicist Nick Gardner, and was premiered, beautifully, by Earplay at Stanford in May 2022.
