Colloquy (1999) by Wayne Peterson
for flute and harp
Colloquy begins with sustained, lyric passages which increasingly alternate with those of a more animated and fragmentary nature. Midway in the piece a fast scherzo emerges and builds inexorably to an exciting climax. There follows a gradual reduction of both tension and pace, terminating with a quiescent reference to the opening statement.
