Works performed by Earplay:
Frozen Sparkles
Born in Taiwan, composer-performer Yu-Hsin Chang received her Ph. D. degree in music composition and theory from University of California, Davis. Her music reflects an intriguing complex reminiscent of multiple styles, with sparkling timbre and compelling pulses. In her compositions, Chang aims to explore the boundary between a meditative nature and a subconscious turmoil. She writes for traditional Asian instruments, standard western instruments, and combinations of them. Her composition mentors include Pablo Ortiz, Kurt Rohde, Sam Nichols, and Chin-Yu Lin.
