Born in Rome, Simone Cardini studied composition (Telli magna cum laude) and piano (Torchiani) at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia; then he continued his studies with Solbiati (Conservatoire F. Poulenc in Tours and Cons. G. Verdi in Milan) and Fedele (Accademia Naz. Santa Cecilia magna cum laude). In international masterclasses and academies he developed his aesthetic approach thanks to the tutelage of Hosokawa, Haas, Gervasoni, Cendo, Filidei, Murail, and Bedrossian, among others.
Cardini's compositions have been awarded in international competitions and played in Europe, Russia, China and the US, in eminent expositions and festivals by ensembles including Klangforum Wien, Prometeo Ensemble, Neue Vocalsolisten, Musiques Nouvelles, IEMA, Divertimento Ensemble, PMCE, Studio for New Music Ensemble, Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, Mdi Ensemble, ATMusica, SEV ensemble, Avanti Chamber Orchestra, and Duo Essentia; with soloists including Florentin Ginot, Samuele Telari, Garth Knox, and Gianni Trovalusci; and with orchestras including Deutsche Radio Philharmonie and Orchestra Giovanile di Roma.
His work has been supported by institutions and through artistic residencies. His music has been broadcast by SR 2 KulturRadio (DE), RadioFrance (FR), Radio Rai1 (IT), Radio Rai3 (IT), Radio Rock 106.6 (IT); and some of his arrangements have been televised on Rai1 TV (Eurovision) and Rai2 TV (IT). His paper Music and Architecture—Aesthetic and sociological implications was published in Musica & Architettura, Nuova Cultura Ed. (2012). His works are published by Ed. Suvini Zerboni and released on CD by EMA Vinci Records and Tactus Records. His work Threshold is published by Universal Edition.
