These postcards use the same image, but the captions specify different locations.

The image looks N from the ruins of the California St. Cable Railway Company building on the SW corner of California / Hyde, hence the tangle of cables in the foreground. The street at right with cable car tracks is Hyde, the street at left is Larkin, and the chimney at left is indicated in Sanborn (sheet 80). California is not visible behind the foreground brick wall; horizontal streets are Sacramento at middle and Clay at top (sheets 81/82). The bump at top center is the Spring Valley Russian Hill reservoir at Hyde / Lombard (sheet 85). In 2025, the California / Hyde location contains a Trader Joe's and its parking lot.
