Mutual Savings Bank

Location: Market/Geary/Kearny (700 Market).

The Mutual Savings Bank was founded in 1889 by James Phelan, James G. Fair, and James K . Moffitt. The 12-story Mutual Savings Bank building designed by Curlett and Moore opened in 1902. It survived the 1906 earthquake with no major structural damage, but the interior was destroyed by the fire.
