[Cf. file of letters written to Minnie for more details.] ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Lived in Chicago until 1939, then moved to Washington DC. Minnie joined her in DC after she graduated from high school in 1940. Molly worked at Bureau of Engraving, then at the Social Security Bureau of Employment. Enlisted in Women's Army Auxilliary Corps (WAAC) 1943; had applied for OCS but was declined. Trained as radio technician. Stationed in Des Moines Iowa for three months. Stationed in Tennessee (near Lookout Mountain) as drill sargeant (tech. rank, actual rank corporal). Stationed Kelly Field near San Antonio TX doing public relations. WAACs disbanded in favor of WAC, Molly opted to not reenlist. Molly and Minnie decided to come to CA (Minnie coming from Chicago). Molly arrives Sept. (possibly Oct.) 1943, meets Bill Stolmack at JCC on first night in SF, then by chance runs into him next day on Market St. near Ferry Building. Molly lives in Sutter St. hotel for first days in SF, then finds tiny apartment (maid's quarters) on Chestnut via JCC listing. Bill lives in Marina too, works degaussing ships for US Navy. Goes to diving school, gone 6 weeks. ... After marriage, HWS/MKS live on Sutter St. Molly works at labor research job post-war. Move to apartment at Cole/Carl. At ballet with Minnie when Minnie meets Joe Jurow.
