Notes on 10/31/09 Halloween pictures at Matt Kahn's

Arrived earlier than usual, ca. 5:30 PDT,
	roughly 45 minutes before dusk.
Pictures of large (450 lb!) pumpkin arrival and setup;
	later pictures show it splitting at center (and steaming!).
Full moon, moonlit background visible in some pix.

Canon S5IS (8MP, p0*.jpg):
	M mode
	f8 mostly (for best depth of field),
		wider for very dark pieces (due to 16" max exposure)
	Exposures 2.5" to 16", generally ca. -0.7 from indicated exposure
	Manual focus mostly (with distance estimated), some autofocus.
	Should have used self timer but did not;
		push single shot/self timer button repeatedly to select,
		then hit set

Olympus (3MP, p1*.jpg):
	Reset initially due to dead battery:
		date
		sound off
		init. screen off
	Some pix with night mode, -2.0, autofocus; generally works well,
		fast and simple
	Later pix in ASM mode M, f8, exposures as above
	Autofocus

	Noise at Olympus pix probably due to higher ISO, should fix ISO
	Focus on autofocus Olympus pix is typically past surface of pumpkin
