This page reproduces the XYBASIC Programming Manual (Revision 6, 2/9/82). I no longer have the original manual source files. The text was extracted in May 2014 via OCR from PDF scans of a manual hard copy, compared to the original and corrected, and then used to generate new web and PDF versions. The new versions may contain errors due to OCR.
My XYBASIC page describes the genesis of XYBASIC. The first version of the manual was Rev. 0 of 11/30/77, 93 pages. It grew over the following four years as I added features. The manual's typography and layout are simple, in keeping with the tools available at the time (no boldface or italic!). I left the content and layout unchanged when I created new web and PDF versions, using minimal markup and only two fonts (for plain text vs. computer output, as in the original), and resisting the temptation to correct or rewrite the text. The original contains an Index (pp. 162-168), not reproduced in the online version. The newly added Summary is an alphabetically sorted version of the Short Form Description from the original.
